The copper frame is authentic looking, which had me a little worried because I didn't want it to be too shiny. The shade is actually square, it looks in the pictures like it's a rectangular shape, but it' not. Thankfully it worked out and it works great. My only complaint would be that some of the hinges were a little tight and we had to use some WD-40 on them, after that they worked fine, otherwise we would have been pulling it out of the wall every time we would try to adjust it. Some of the photos show shade-color much more saturated than they really are (not true to form). The gold color is a SUBTLE (not saturated) color, giving the area a summery, friendly glow. The silver color is also a SUBTLE (not saturated) color, giving the area a wintry, icy glow. Neither glow is better than the other, because summer and winter are both necessary; it depends on the room you're putting them in. In a warm room, put the silver. In a cool room, put the gold. I happen to like the gold better than the silver in all cases.I think I figured out what "pin-up" refers to. Pin-up means the shade is NOT attached to the lightbulb. You definitely want pin-up. The alternative of pin-up, I think, is "clip-on" where the shade clips directly onto the lightbulb (a horrible design).
