This control can turn the light on or off, and is also a full range dimmer. This acrylic shaded 72" high torchiere also has a manual switch on the pole. Uses 2 X 150-watt bulbs.

The bowl of the lamp is made of what looks like cheap grade plastic. The pole section of the lamp came in three or four parts. One of those parts had a defective thread, so that the section which was supposed to be screwed on top of that one would not screw in straight or even all the way. Overall, the product felt like it was too cheaply made for the price. It is also the only lamp period where I have seen that particular type of dimmer remote built in. I have one in the living room and am always getting comments on how well it looks and works. It certainly is not a super heavy duty lamp but I find the quality more than adequate for where I have it.I also purchased one for the bedroom. Due to mobility issues and sometimes being confined to the bed, I find this remote controlled lamp to be perfect for me. If you have any friends or family that have difficulty moving around, you could not go wrong purchasing this as a gift for them.
