17 of 18 people found the following review helpful A good basic lamp, By LMT (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Torchiere Floor Lamp, Black This lamp matches an older lamp we had. It's not a fancy or pretty design but it's relatively unobtrusive and just does the job. I like that the torchiere is not plastic, as in some other lamps in this price range. It was easy to put together. For the price it seems very solid and I'm satisfied with it. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful Nice and bright, By Madee Bee "Mads" (New York) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Torchiere Floor Lamp, Black I moved into an apt that doesn't have any lighting. I bought 2 of these floor lamps and put them on opposite sides of the living room.I have 60-watt bulbs in them and they light up the room perfectly and are pretty bright. One is next to my TV and the black metal shade means I don't get the glare from the light on my TV. This is a great basic lamp and for the price you can't go wrong. Assembly was easy and shipping was pretty quick. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful Great product with one avoidable flaw, By Doug Fay (Bothell, Washington, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Torchiere Floor Lamp, Black I bought 3 of these recently, in spite of at least one other review that described not being able to turn the 3-way selector switch. So, I assembled the first unit up to the point of installing the reflector. Everything worked great, including the switch. Then I installed the reflector, admired my work and left it on for a while. A bit later, I came back, and doggon-it, the switch wouldn't turn, just like some of the other reviews had reported. So, I performed an autopsy. To make a long story shorter, it turns out that if you turn the reflector too hard when installing it, it can cause misalignment of a couple of parts immediately below, inside the lamp socket housing, thereby binding the shaft of the rotating selector switch and making it impossible to turn. Also, I could not find a way to fix this misalignment once it had occurred. So, I am returning unit #1.However, I liked the looks, functionality and and everything else about the design and construction of this lamp,... Read more |
